Meet the Coaches

We take huge pride in the quality of coaching at the O'Neill Surf Academy.  A variety of qualifications and experience makes for an interesting team! And just how good are our coaches? Well, why not ask the thousands of surfers we have taught over the past fifteen years - all of whom took home with them experience of a lifetime! Some have even taken it to the next level, visiting us regularly and enjoying with us the pleasure of riding waves!

Ashleigh Bennetts

Ashleigh Bennetts:Academy Owner and Head Coach. Kids Dept' & Club Coach.

Ashleigh has high standards when it comes to coaching. With many years experience at the O'Neill Surf Academy and previous years with club and lifeguard experience. After taking over the running of the surf school from Pat 5 years ago. A keen surfer, she's been busy during 2011 entering surfing contests around the globe. Currently ranked 6th in Europe for women's Longboarding, she's looking forward to some more great achievements in 2012

Victoria Johnson

Vicki is the newest member of our team joining us for 2012. We're very excited to have her on our team - she's a great Longboarder and loves to surf and travel the world.

Loric Stroud

Loric is our right hand man! Spending every minute of his holidays either in the water surfing or at the Academy helping out Loric is a true legend! He's motivated to become a qualified surf instructor when he leaves school. He's a great little surfer and has recently picked up a sponsorship contract with W.E. Surfboards in Newquay where he's also learning how to shape and make custom surfboards. He also enjoys skateboarding and having fun with his friends.

Dan Rawsthorn

Dan Rawsthorn aka "Tractor": BSA Level 2 Coach & run Surfing Holidays part of West Coast Surfari

To say Dan is passionate about surfing is an understatement! Dan has over 25 years experience surfing in the UK and abroad and his passion for surfing naturally extended to teaching others to enjoy the waves. He's has been surf coaching for over 6 years. Dan also works on an Organic Dairy Farm, hence the nickname!

Dan rides his retro fish most of the time, but enjoys riding a longboard when the surf is small!

Dan loves travelling around the world to surf good waves runs the annual West Coast Surfari Tours & Holidays to France and South Africa.

In between his busy schedule of surfing the world's best waves, working the farm, and looking after his beautiful little boys, Dan can be found surfing the Newquay beaches.
