Surfing Holiday to France 2008

The South West region of France is our destination, among the endless pine forests, pristine sandy beaches and home to europes best beach brakes. It makes for a great Surf Holiday.

Experience on your surf trip with us

Staying in a Surf Camp amongst the tall pines, barmy nights, French wines, perfect waves washing over sand 30 metres from the shore, staying at the beach all day,  surfing sunrise to sunset, no wetsuit,  good food and great company, and the freedom of a French beach!!!
we are just a ten minute walk from the lovely golden sands of Bourdaines beach with its top-quality breaks, with dozens of uther quality beachbreaks close by, September is a grate time to surf this region, the summer crowds have gone home and we usualy get some nice late summer warm sunshine, good wind conditions for cleen surf and quality early season swell with water temperatures around 20-22c.

The WCT Quiksilver Pro France with the top 44 surfers in the world runs from the 19 - 28 September, based at Hoseggor so we get to watch them compete, bump into them in the restaurants and bars and in the water free-surfing between heats.

Surf Holiday to Hossegor

Hossegor town is a great place, only a short 5 minute drive from our surf camp. It has a wide variety of excellent surf shops and restaurants, and the town is well kept and pretty. Evenings can be spent either at the surf camp or in town. During the day we surf as much as possible, tides and conditions allowing.

The surf tour is suitable for surfers of all abilities with daily coaching available. We use a variety of surf breaks around the area. All of our staff are fully qualified Coaches and Lifeguards, hold instructor licences and are members of Sports Coach UK.
 
Our surf camp is situated beachside in a perfect location, close to Hossegor centre and full of excellent facilities. It is a new site, with a fantastic huge swimming pool and decking area, volleyball courts, campsite shop, bike hire station and numerous showering and laundry blocks. We have a set up which includes a camp and sleeping area incorporating bbq areas and a permanent large marquee. The grounds around the campsite are well looked after and there are security guards at the gates nightly.
 
We eat most nights in one of the numerous cafes/restaurants around the area, evening meals are not expensive, you can normally eat and have a drink for around £10 per night. If you wish to cook for yourself at camp then that is always an option and a few nights during the trip we will organise and prepare a bbq at camp.
 
And with The WCT Quiksilver Pro France surfing competition runing on the brakes close by, we can take some time out and enjoy the spectacle. To see the professionals in action can be awesome. Check out the gallery for some shots from the 2006/7 trip. Last year we surfed perfect 2-3 ft waves for 2 hours, then the whole mobile WCT setup came up the beach and stoped right on the peak we were surfing, a large crowd gatherd, after a while we got out of the surf and watched the  semi-final and then Mick Fanning take the final, fantastic.

-you are responsible for organising and booking your own flights via www.ryanair.com  flight route Stansted to Biarritz. 

If you would like to book and pay for your tour with us in monthly payments this can also be organised.

If you want to travel with West Coast Surfari, the drive option allows you to meet either at our base in Newquay or at Plymouth ferry port. The ferry departs from Plymouth and arrives in Roscoff, from where we head south in our surf bus to set up camp in Hossegor, South West France.

We recommend that you fly with Ryan Air from Stansted to Biarritz. You are responsible for organising and purchasing your own flight via www.ryanair.com
We will meet you at the airport in Biarritz and take you back to camp.
Please note that the airlines may charge a supplement to carry your surf equipment, please check with your airline for details.

Your Surf Holiday - Price includes...

If you have not had the opportunity to visit West Coast Surfari in Cornwall and have booked a surf tour with us then we offer you the opportunity to attend one of our Pre-Tour weekend coaching workshops free of charge, run approximately one month prior to departure. The coaching workshop is available to all persons booking with us and gives you the opportunity to meet your coaches, fellow surfers and receive 2 days surf coaching to the level of your ability whether it be beginner or intermediate. This in itself will provide you will the most valuable knowledge and confidence for you to then go on and make the uttmost of your tour that is possible.
 
The prices includes daily surf coaching.
Your coaching will be at staggered levels throughout your stay and we will aim to progress you to the next level of ability. Surfboards are available for hire should you need one and come as complimentary within your tour cost although we do recommend bringing your own if you have one. 
We provide you with daily breakfasts supplies and some evening drinks plus we organise and supply food for a couple evenings throughout the trip.
Transport includes your airport pick ups and returns plus daily transport to all the local beach breaks. 
We recommend that you purchase your own wetsuit for the trip, as they are cheap enough to buy. A summer suit will be sufficient.
 

To book your place on the France surf trip we require a £100 deposit with the completed booking form, available to download shortly or currently by request. The balance is due 25 days prior to departure or a monthly payment plan can be set up.

West Coast Surfari hold all clients monies secure until the trip has ended in a trustee account.

What you need to bringon your surf trip with us

  • Check with your health centre for vaccinations that may be required
  • Little and basic baggage is best
  • One bag or large travel size backpack
  • A 3/2mm summer wetsuit
  • One or two boards in one board bag if you have them otherwise we will provide you with a 9ft foam board whilst out there. Wax & Leashes
  • A pillow and sleeping bag
  • Valid passport with at least 6 months travel time left on it. Check with your travel agant on any visa requirements
  • Personal travel insurance. We will require proof of this. Boots and the Post office may be able to help you as well as your local insurance broker. Please aim to get sufficient cover for your equipment.
  • Sterling traveller’s cheques or currency, debit & credit cards are widely accepted and make it very easy to withdraw cash.
  • You must inform us of any medical condition prior to booking.
  • Check you have adequate supplies of any medication you may require whilst out there. Order repeats to arrive in time prior to your departure. Spare contact lenses if you are a wearer and a spare pair of glasses doesn’t go a miss.
  • Pack comfortable and warm clothing  plus sun supplies
  • A good book and a MP3 player!
 

Surf Holiday Booking and cancellation

  • Prices do not include flights. You are responsible for booking and paying for your own flight. We will help give you advice on flights available but the responsibility does lie with you.
     
    West Coast Surfari hold the monies of all clients secure until the tour is complete.
     
    To book your place on the France Surf Tour we require a deposit of £100 payable to “West Coast Surfari Tours and Holidays. “

  • Bank details for transfer can be provided upon request

  • Cancellation:
  • A service fee of £30 per person will charged irrespective of when you cancel
  • Cancellation prior to 25 days from the departure date an additional charge of £30 will apply
  • Cancellation within 25 days of the departure date an additional charge of £50 will apply
  • Cancellation within 14 days of the departure date an additional charge of £70 will apply
  • Cancellation after WCS travel has commenced will mean loss of complete monies paid.
